Last week we considered change from the perspective of a life-long learner. We are always changing, always growing . . . or not? Do you think that the quality of your character – who you really are – is a result of ongoing learning? Or, do you think your character – who you really are – develops randomly or through some other means?
Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady and wife of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, said this about learning and growth:
“People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built.”
Do you you agree or disagree with this statement? Reflect upon how these words have impacted your growth – even your own character development. Consider the words “honestly” and “courageously.” How does this quote apply to your experience with growth and change?
